The reason why our presentation hasn't been well done.

Featrice
My thoughts to Interim 1.

Basically, I think that most of us are ain't sure with the situation and the exact content that we are suppose to execute and put into our presentation and proposal. Many of us do not understand what this MOIP1 video is about to bring forward to our target audience. For the individual presentation which cost us 15%, the first group of people who presented got mark down because they do not know that what exactly is content and therefore, did not put it into the presentation and so I guess the result wasn't very good compared to the second group of people who needs to present the next day. Some actually came down to join in and learn and so not to repeat similar mistakes. Therefore, they benefited. Somehow like we wasted our one mth, Feb, doing the WRONG thing.
Do you know how does that feel?

:(

Interim 1

The interim 1 didn't seem to go too well, sadly. However we musn't let this get to us as we still have another block to ammend our mistakes.

Our work was said to be a little too complicating for the lecturer's likings. So we had to simplify it with a single link. Our scene linking has to be reworked on again. Over the weekends, everyone is going to come up with an individual proposal on how to do it.

Ganbatte, people. We musn't stop here.

Intrerim 1

There's alot of work to be done and almost done. I know, everyone is in a mess and we are constructing the flaws of the group. I really think, the communication must be right. I know my own flaws too. It's hard to juggle my time, having another module to go through and it will effect my group productivity. Especially the next block. I'm the only one who have two modules.
I guessed, the main important is trying to rock down the walls that is making the communication between one another not so good. And importantly the understanding and respect. We are a team, and we must work like a team. Cause in the end, it is about the team effort. Stop with the pride of having one man's job or even being lazy to do the job. We must really work together. For me personally, once in my experience is enough.
We are heading to interim 1 soon, and before we know it, we will be holding the cameras and shoot. No more wasting time. Time is precious right now. Must learn not to over control and not to not in control at all. Lets start doing things right and put the 100% effort on the video.
Also, one thing i must credit is the STOKE. The reason is that, they help me alot in the understanding of the things i'm doing right now. They are willing to share and they are also willing to teach. Cause i felt that, it's hardly to find people like them nowadys. Thanks alot you guys. Rock On!

Interim 1

I'd like to think that we have this Interim in the bag,

but no.

Not until today did we find out that we need to submit a hard copy again so the proposal was not initiated during the previous days.
Now I'm in the midst of piecing the jigsaw together again. I don't wanna be very "extra" and chiong proposal until it's grade A but to me i think it's necessary because i wanna prove to myself that i can do better than i did for my previous group.

Anyways, the mood board is something i questioned since 3 am last night because as of now, i still don't know how we're gonna execute it. i remember the mood board Alfie showed during the project brief revision and the ones i looked up over the net looks totally different. They display collages and posters but not individual pictures which explains what they wanna convey. I'm totally confused right now.

Okay I'm trying to think straight. I've never felt this procrastinated since O levels.

One more thing, I've mentioned location recce several times, but nobody seemed interested. I hope we come up with something soon. Now discussing the clothes we're gonna wear.

I'm halfway dying here suddenly.

See you in hell at Interim 1- Ubin

Process

Storyboard is being further editted by me today. It seems that it'd need a couple of pages more.

Featrice is writting the script while Iylia is doing the animation.

Short post reporting on the progress for now.

Important stuff for the final project:

Since today was only a consultation, there isn't much I can post about. Just what I learnt would be appropriate enough.

Script:
It can be sub divided into a Film drama, which tracks to a Master scene formula. Then the other is etc, which refers to a Dual-column formula. The below is how a dual-column formula should be presented:

In the process of storyboarding now.

When Nina called me ard 12plus noon on thurs, I was still in my dreams. Supposed to have meeting but was postponed to friday, yesterday, 20 feb. She told me that Ubin will be joining our group for certain reason.
f
So meeting ytd was really another thing. Ubin was new in our group!
I guessed we do not need to introduce ourself to him so the first thing we did was to explain our final proposed idea to him and also, he explaining his idea to us. We do not only want him to completely used our idea, therefore we took out parts of his idea and improvise into ours. We did have fun during our meeting and everyone was contributing to our final proposed idea. Many new ideas came out when we were doing our scene by scene stryboard-ing in words first. We had scheduled ourself into when and what we are doing, our timeline. We had also discussed and confirmed about our dressing for the video-act!!

To Ubin:
Was I that scary?
I am so friendly, ya? AND,
Ubin do looked like chipmunks ;p

A new starting point

And so begins my endeavor in a new group.

I don't really know how to say this, but it feels like i bounced right in.

I mean, the transition was not as bad as i expected it to be. I thought i would only break in only after the 2nd or 3rd meeting, but surprisingly, i felt like i fitted right in.

My new group members were very welcoming. I always thought Featrice to be pretty scary (coz i don't know you, no offense!) and that Nina would feel like a stranger had just been put into her group, an outsider.

But maybe it was just because i was nervous. I mean, how do i put it.. It's difficult to work with someone whom you have no idea how he works, then suddenly he's in your group and you have to include his ideas. I really wanna thank Nina, Featrice and JY for putting up with my ordeal. (:

Their idea was quite airy in my head when they first explained it to me yesterday, but it seems to have a flow in it. They also seem to have a way of working with each other which i'll have to learn slowly; their minds seem to be inter-connected. It's like a lan shop and i'm a new computer, Know what i'm sayin'? Nevermind.

Anyways, i think we've got the scenes down already. We just need to get the storyboards up and start on the script and moodboards and all those thingys.

Honestly, i think we're gonna rock.

I don't look like a chipSmunk. Lol

p.s sorry to interrupt. ~ubin

The Work starts today,.

The idea have already been chosen. Advertisement style like what JY had mentioned. All the three of us have agreed and we have really been brain storming. We know, our book idea is not working due to our lack of time and also, our lack of knowledge in using the programmes. Even if we were to consult the lecturers, we must be really assure that they are free and have the time for us.
We want to make our advertisement to be something that is fast-paced and stylish. Even if it may not be easy, but with JY expertise in animation, we can somehow slowly break the walls through. We must also know, we have to work hard to make the effects and learn the processes of each programmes.
I'm sure, if we as a group work hard and push our selves to our limits, we will be sure we can do it. Come on Team!

Nina Nazliana

Coming up with an Idea.

The three of us are still on the process of agreeing on a full version among our six ideas. We have chosen to do something like an advertisement, whereby the opening would begin with a "Sticker" scene which we would probably have visuals on in near future.

Nina and Featrice broadcasted a nice array of advertisement videos today. There were many inspirations and ideas brewed.

I'm not exactly a video person myself, but I'd help in the drawings and animations that is needed. Luckily, Featrice and Nina have photography and video flares. I guess everything would probably work out well if we combined efforts.

A few modules we would be explaining; Ideation, 2D&3D Artfun, Photography and Video fundamentals. There would probably be more, but we'll have to decide.

Presentation not well done :(

Featrice

Presentation today was a failure.
3 groups presented today and the other 3 groups tomorrow.
Normally the first to present will get disadvantage.
And it had happened to the groups who presented today.
The lack in content in many of our presentation.
Some of the groupmates who present tmr came today,
and Im sure they will do better as they alrdy know what to put inside the ppt and proposal.
Pretty discouraged after SiewCheng told us that the groups who presented today did badly.
Like that kind that just passed.
Really had to buck up for the final one proposed idea.
Teamwork spirit should come first RIGHT NOW!!

Some help to lend:
Do include this in your ppt & proposal.
-What modules are you putting into your video?
-How are you going to showcase your works?
-The life in MOI.
-Environment in school.
-What you've learn?

Byes :D

Changes to MOIP1 Final Assignment

Wahidah announced that there will be a change in the MOIP1 assignment. Animatics in Powerpoint is not valid anymore and it's changed to a video (Which can be an animation as well). I was thinking of doing an Animation, but then again, it'd be time-consuming to draw every scene and I don't know if my groupmates would agree to it ultimately. I don't have much of a video flare, so it's kinda hard to say.

Monday we'll have to present two individual ideas before confirming which is the best to start. There will be consultation tomorrow. Do remember, people.

Final Presentation for Council for Third Age

Featrice (:

With all the research and findings we did, and I guessed all the other group were ready as well, we presented the last because we were group six. It was bad to present the last, because the attention span of our classmates had already died off, i think.

Overall, I think my group presented quite well though I said something wrong in the beginning. Misread the word attention-span for life-span. Probably because I am nervous?
I had also realised that doing survey is a plus for research as we could know or understand more from the public, assumption were normally not as accurate as the result of the survey.

Council for Third Age had brought a deeper steps forward in us to take note and care for the people around us, like our parent and grandparent. The miscommunication between the youths and the elderly had became quite a topic, a serious one. Initiative is one important keypoint in solving the problem. After this exercise, I guessed MOIP1 groups will start to take a step forward in caring for their elderly.

There is a change in our moip1, Talk at Lt 24 tmr @ 12:30pm

Presentation Day!

Today, we had a discussion for our presentation day for tomorrow. We found out, the first survey have helped us a lot in our research and also our understanding into what they think or felt about one another. We have found out, like what we think or expect from them are the same. Most of the youth are not talking to elderly, even if they do, they are just saying 'hi and bye'. Like what we feel as a group, is that they are having a miscommunication among one another and how their perspective about one another.
This have brought us into another step of choosing our two possible proposed solutions. In which, what they would want, if there were to be an event for them to bond with one another. From our ideas, we eventually have chosen our two possible solutions that what they have like or would want from the first survey that they have taken.
The two possible solutions were Contest and also dancing. Both of this solutions have make us come to think in making another survey on breaking into a deeper parts of their likings. As we all know, from the context of the words dancing and contests, there are alot of different forms that you could imagine of. As the two proposed solutions are the main ideas that many would like, from the second survey, we will understand more in which between the two, which they will choose.
And from the second survey, we will know what are their expectations, their likings, and also their participation. One thing sure, from our second survey, it will help us a lot in analysing of what the event would be, and also in which media form.
From today gathering, i realised, each of us have broke all the walls that are dividing us in terms of differences, and have made us understand one another. We are able to work and communicate way better with one another. Keep it Up!

Feb 9th: Proposal Writing

The class today was about the Proposal writing. Siew Cheng made us research on how to write it. But so far, only two groups in the class got it correct. I took notes of how to do the proposal as it was being explained in the class as it was important for our final work too.

There are 7 steps into doing so.

1. Design Problem - Statement (Short Paragraph)

2. Research - On target audience as clients (Will be of different age groups so we'll have to be wary of what they'll expect), Budget; The amount needed to be spent on each factors involved in the design. (Optional)

3. Objective - Solving a problem (Understanding the problem and needs of the audience)

4. Strategy - Getting the attention of the audience. Maybe through the use of humour to entice them (Common working strategy since laughter is not restricted) Whether racism or sensitive topics should be added might have to be debated.

5. Mediums - How the message is to be carried to the audience? Via the use of TV adverts? Radios? Etc.

6. Design Outcome - How is the final outcome like? (For the case of media, will it be a drama or a documentary?) How to continue about doing it in future?

7. Synopsis - Of the final design solution. Will be a recap of what was covered above, but in clearer details so to finalize the idea. (Can be related to what was learnt in Creative Storytelling)

Fourth Entry: By Featrice

The previous post by Nina was actually to feedback and comment on the Day 3 post which was posted by Jy.

Day 4, 4th entry.
Featrice

CONSULTATION DAY

Siew Cheng shown us some of the FYP work done by our senior which was actually linked to our current exercise: Council For Third Age. Their short film actually convey a message to their target audience, which I think was the youth and elderly. It was actually kind of like a inter-generation short film which encourage the youth and the elderly to stay connected and interact more.

After watching the work done by the senior, we consulted Siew Cheng on our research powerpoint. After Siew Cheng had overviewed our powerpoint work, she concluded that we were actually doing research powerpoint instead of focusing more on our proposed idea. From there, she directed us to the right path. We will be giving out survey form to people also because we want to know more about our target audience which was the youth and the elderly and from there, we could analysis out and link it to our proposed idea. Therefore, our survey question were made simpler to understand so that once the people read the questions, there could easily understand. We will also be typing out two languages, English and Chinese, on our survey form so that people can read the languages.

After rephrasing the questions, making them easier to understand, our group decided to interpret out what observations we 3 made on the youth and the elderly. So there was this list of things we wrote down such as
Elderly feeling lonely at times, more traditional mindset and are normally conservative unlike the youth nowadays that are pretty open-minded, trendy and selfish. From all this interpretation we made, proposed idea we think of must be able to link and solve the problem between the youth and the elderly.

In our powerpoint, we've also included the compare and contrast of the youth and the elderly with other countries. And we found out that, elderly from other country were more active compared to locals. We got evidence and photo that we will be showing in our powerpoint. We will need to do a lot of research to fulfilled our proposal.

So far so good. Our group is doing well. Cheers! :)

04 February

Today, Victric Thng came to school and had a talk session with the school. His short film was being showcased and later on we had an interview session with him. He expressed his feelings and told more about his progress and experience in the film industry. How from just an ordinary graduate, he emerged to be one of the best in Singapore. One thing sure, to be the best, you have to start from the scratch.

He gave me a sense of willingness to learn more, and not to give up in everything that we do. It may be some crap to us, but others may think it as some what a gold. Always expect the unexpected. That's one thing I guessed my team should uphold. We should put aside the differences between one another, and work things out smoothly to be able to make the possible and the best outcome.

Today, even though I've missed out quite a lot from my leave, I've come to learn that my group progression is doing very well. I appreciate Featrice and Jy hardwork, to make the things started. Thumbs up for the both of them. We also had our discussion through MSN. We came up to the total of 5 ideas. - A cooking Event, where the young and the old changes their menu. -Fashion Contest where the young will make a design for the old, and the other way round for the older generations. - Creativity by making accessories by using beads. - An event to uphold a Guinness Record. - A line dancing event where the young and old show their groves.

From the ideas, we will be choosing the best two. We will then progress from there on. I really believe in my team mates. We are moving forward and is not looking back. I do hope, we will be able to come out with the best and unique outcomes. You go team!!

Lets straight things up and make things happen!

Day three; Researching.

There was no class today, instead it was replaced by a talk session by Victric Thng at 9 in the morning.

We did a fresh amount of research today at the library and we found a good amount of information to add on into the exercise. So far, I must comment that things are going pretty well. Most of the requirements in the exercise such as the design problem has been taken care of. Now, all's left is the two proposed ideas that we have yet to agree on.

So far so good, keep up, team. :)

- JY

Day two: Feb 03

Basically, today was going to class to clear things up. Whatever that we were unsure of had been asked and responded.

In the beginning we had some troubles understanding the Council of Third Age exercise, and nearly mixed it with the final assignment. Siew Cheng clarified that both were two different issues. The exercise was merely a warm-up to get us up and ready for the actual assignment.

Also, we were meant to discuss about the ideas we have for the exercise for today. Apparently, to fix the broken bridge between the old and the young. We decided to conduct a survey for both sides so we can improvise on an event for them.

Remember, my group. The Exercise and the Assignment is NOT the same thing. It's just to teach us how to research better and ready to tackle the actual thing.

In anycase, keep up the good work, people.

Ever 1st entry:

POST BY: FEATRICE

Day1 was basically us receiving our MOIP1 Assignment brief and talked more about the ground rules. Wahidah and Siew Cheng especially emphasized on PUNCTUALITY today. Grades will drop if there isn't any valid reason or mc.

Assignment:

We were supposed to think of two possible programs that allow the younger generation and the older groups to bond together. What were some of the possible activities that we could think of.
Fashion shows and Big walk were some of the past event did on the previous years. This is an important project, it also allow us to earn money like a job opportunity. Research also shown that not all the elderly prefer dull colour, there were some that likes bright colour and who say elderly do not know how to dress up themself? As you walk on the street today, you do see some old lady wearing as trendy as us the teens. Never underestimate out target audience was what SiewCheng mentioned today in class. Research such as interviews, forums, surveys, internet research, library, books, newspapers, magazines and even site visits were very important in our assignment.

A short clip of 7-9 minutes is to be produce by the end of this two block. Jiayou!!
